BlogMas 2016 Day Seven - Nine & Three Quarters

Image
Hello. It's Day Seven. People after people, bogie after bogie, I sit on the punctured steel bench, far from being reminiscent, Of the hefty and rooted stone parenting the dusky oak ledge, Always smelling of musk, it veritably was crafted, Keeping in mind humans as humans, and not luggage, I somehow settle my derrière, which is also quite disapproving,  On the gruesome bench, There are now wires, and with each added filament, Would be fracturing of a roof so mile-high, fit which it would  All the male ego you would see, floating heavily Along with the dark vapour of the coal, And the smell of the smoke, glamorise which it would, The idea of the handsome smile you wish, You could descry across the platform, I see them daub inch by inch further away,  Wanting more expanse, while gobbling more turf, "We'll make them grand", they said, "They'll look modern", they said, And amidst all their gloat bubbles in the air, stif...

BlogMas 2016 Day Six - Airhead

Image
Hello. It's Day Six. Do y'all remember, as kids, when our parents would tell us to find one, and stay in good company? Every time as a kid I had a new friend, or I came across someone new, the only question my parents would ask me about them is 'What do they want to be when they grow up?', 'Do you always have a good time with them?' and 'What do you like about them?' I was a child. And those questions would irk me to no extent. I wanted friends. I wanted to have fun. What I didn't, for the life of me, in all me naivety at the age realise is that they were instilling in me the habit of asking myself these things about anyone I met in life. And I certainly don't mean to create grounds for any level of discrimination here. It certainly is constructive to ask yourself something so basic. And, I reckon it's alright if amongst a bunch of people you find yourself to be feeling stupid. Trust me, that company isn't going to let you feel that...

BlogMas 2016 Day Five - Look

Image
Hello. It's Day Five. I reckon there's a charm that is born out of sincerity.   The uncomplicated act of being so engrossed in what's caught your attention, is the most attractive quality to me about any human. I read someone's post on Twitter saying, "Be so busy with your own life, that you have no time to judge others for theirs."  And, undoubtedly the people I've seen most engaged in life, are the ones to also be the most pleasant. You can, plain as a day, see the satisfaction such people feel , if not looking at the result of their work, but while doing it also. They greet their work everyday like an old friend, yet go through it all day like it's the one unexplored part on the planet that He had hidden from everybody. And the more unusual the work, the more they feed on it like a scavenger to fill in their incomplete knowledge. Such people grab my attention. They make me want to write poems and sonnets about their commitment. Though, this ...

BlogMas 2016 Day Four - Double Cream Regular

Image
Hello. It's Day Four. I saw a girl who made coffee. Hunched over the notebook, her hand sifted through her hair. The other one wound disturbingly rigid over her pen -  a gesture so simple, and mindless and yet, exuded such great possession, as if she was scribbling God's secret plan for harmony, and wanted to hide His tool, lest everyone found the power behind it. The reflection of the snow on the glass drew stories on her compact stature, and relaxed fingers, both of which that gave nothing away. The primal, worn leather of her notebook, and the rusty and stained tip of her fountain pen, her foot tapping every time Sinatra came on, the heavy cream in her coffee, and the now, very decimated chocolate muffin screamed sonnets about her reservation of belonging to the old world. Yet, the threads of her torn jeans, the scuff on her boots, the red strap of her bra playing peek-a-boo with her cardigan, stood testament of a woman delivered mistakenly by the stork, who was born ...

BlogMas 2016 Day Three - Deer Park

Image
Hello. It's Day Three. Have you ever experienced time dissolving and vanishing around you? The one thing I crave at this time in my life is Deer Park. It's a massive forest-park in Delhi. For those you who've never lived in a city that has winters, might not understand it. I miss driving down to Deer Park every other weekend in the wee bit hours of morning and walking down every trail I could find, knowing I fathom every part of that place better than the back of my hand, also knowing I'd end up at the Hauz Khas Lake despite the route. Walking through winters there is nothing less than meeting an old lover. The foggy trails and the mist covering the lake even when it's sharp eight in the morning, were the moments I would give all my precious weekend mornings away from. My restlessness always seemed to bid em adieu every time I was in the Park. It would be me, my hour long walks and the chai from Green Park paan-wala thereafter. That place made be cognisant of th...

BlogMas 2016 Day Two - Moana

Image
Hello. It's Day Two. And quite impolitely later than yesterday. The one extremely poignant characteristic of being an architect, I've noticed, is that we're so attuned to making a point to the client or people listening to us, we at times (okay, mostly) end up not listening to each other also. What I've also learned is that, in architecture, simply lending an attentive ear teaches you a lot. I assure you, it's the sharp tongue and that highly befitting vocabulary to seduce you to listen to them. And it's an art, alike all the ones we practice to give you beautiful spaces. To have that aggression for something you built from the ground up, to something so immodest and far from being just an amenity, be spoken in a way, it's attraction at the first listen. It's quite like pottery like that. Disney came out with a new non-Princess Princess. Moana. A Frozen movie at this time of the year would be most appropriate, but it was far from appealing. Disne...

BlogMas 2016 Day One - Perry Cross

Image
Hello.  It's been surprisingly too long, as has been the year. Inspite of that, I'm subtly disbelieving of how soon I'm doing another BlogMas. Which proves, I should write more often. The past few months have spun out most interestingly. Considering I have been cheeky about updating the blog, and most of you don't know, I moved to a new city. Bombay. Shocking.  Shocking much to my dismay is, how much a new city teaches you about itself. And Bombay excels at that. As beautiful as some parts of Bombay are, it's much at a standstill as  far as living is concerned. People seem to have spent lifetimes without stepping out of their five mile radius. If not, everyone one is fleeting in an absolutely robotic rush to the farthest end of the city - that includes me. There are innumerate brilliant places to visit. And there's also the sea. However, much like everyone in the city, for me, too, the sea is exactly where it is - beyond. Bombay reminds me a lot of the mov...

Little Black Books

Image
Her hands, withered yet supple handed me the little black books. I found her speaking with a voice roughened with wisdom, repeating the same words I'd heard last in a voice much flintier than hers, "Sky is the limit, Barfi. He taught your mother this. You must inherit it."  Aware of everything the books cloaked, anxiety also misted over me knowing I'll be taking them away from whom they've always belonged to, the sky it belonged beneath. I could feel myself sinking into a conundrum by each second as I touched the wilting leather hardback of the diary that held his entire life. "What if I can't crack it?", shilly-shallying my indecisiveness as always. The bleak moment I saw her smile sardonically like never before, I felt a menial catastrophe that slight action instigated enveloping me.  "Must you be so distrusting of yourself? You're quite like him in a way."  Thrown back by her words, I failed to understand if my behaviour, and more...

BlogMas 2015 Day Twenty Four - BlogMas Ends

Image
Hello, everybody! And it's BlogMas Day Twenty Four! It was my birthday today, like I said in the last post. But I'm not going to talk about that.  BlogMas is over, guys. Twenty four days of writing and it's been amazing for me. Through juries, and exams and sleepless nights - even though I did post a couple posts a day late, but I did share my days with you nonetheless. A very, very Merry Christmas. Have lots of Plum Cake with tutti-frutti, and watch some sloppy movies, and sing carols at the top of your voice. Most importantly, tell people you love, that you love them. No matter how. Be someone's secret Santa, and have yourself a merry little Christmas. Until then. BlogMas 2015 Day Twenty Two! - Nirbhaya

Image
Hello, everybody! And it's BlogMas Day Twenty Two! Boring, boring boring day. Just literally lied around all day doing nothing. On the flip side, I reckon, I needed that. I also updated myself with all the news going about since I was unable to do so in the past couple weeks, since I had dived my nose into laptop and books. So the juvenile convicted in the Nirbhaya case was released without having his identity made known. What a decision, System, what a decision! The guy who was violent enough to shove a rod inside a woman and pull out her insides with his hands was just a curious puberty-stricken teenager, looking for a quick nookie, and definitely should be given a chance to make a life for himself.  Now the respected society of this country has nothing to say about anybody being intolerant, or any action that has been taken to be intolerant for the victim's parents. Because the bloody juvenile law of this country says so. All the convicts confessed of the juvenile to...

BlogMas 2015 Day Twenty One! - Cutest GIF Ever!

Image
Hello, everybody! And it's BlogMas Day Twenty One! MY EXAMS ARE O-V-E-R! Done, and dusted. I can't admit to how much of a relief that is. But, it also distresses me a bit, as well. Because, next semester will be my last one in college, and enter real world. But that is still secondary of my concerns at the moment. What's really making me anxious and panicky is thesis. I am absolutely gutted, as to what I'm going to do. And I mean that not in a clueless manner. I know what I wish to do, but I'm skeptical if I'll be able to see it through as a vision. Because it doesn't always pay to work hard - sometimes it is crucial to be different, and still keep your head on about realistic appeals of it, and be practical. But. On the flip side. I have a Secret Santa. Who gave me these beautiful handmade notebooks with the loveliest of paper inside. It made my day. Really. And it's just four days to Christmas, guys. Oh! I also experimented with two new recipes to...

BlogMas 2015 Day Twenty! - Cupcakes!

Image
Hello, everybody! And it's BlogMas Day Twenty! I made some Chocolate Banana & Peanut Cupcakes. Oh yeah! They were unbelievably soft, and mind you, I made them sans baking powder. They were utterly butterly delicious. I think that used to the Amul butter advertisement when I was a kid. Also, it didn't need a convention. Just your microwave. Am I not awesome? I am going to taste a lot of freedom tomorrow. No joke. My exams end tomorrow. Guess, who's birthday coming up? Apart from Jesus, I mean. http://www.paulrayment.me/ Until then. BlogMas 2015 Day Nineteen! - Christmas Playlist

Image
Hello, everybody! And it's BlogMas Day Nineteen! I, yet again, spent my day contemplating all the possible templates and layouts for the Wordpress blog. The moment I'm done editing and finalising one, I find another better, more suitable one. This is literally starting to get on my nerves. Rest assured, I'll have it out before Christmas. Also, I tried on a new recipe for pasta. I don't know what to call it yet. But, if you want, I'll surely post up the recipe for you. Until then I have to get back to structures because I am fah-ree-king out. It's not the best of my fortes. I'll have to leave here for today, but do enjoy my Christmas playlist! Here's the  link , in case the videos don't take you to YouTube. Until then. Also, in case you don't follow me everywhere, you can find me at following places: Instagram             Twitter Snapchat: akankshash http://www.mutanthands.com/ Have Yourself a Merry Little Christm...
