I'd Be Your Shield...

No. No, it doesn't matter in the ultimatum where you end up.
I can get pretty difficult at times. There'll be moments when the thin blade of killing me with your bare hands solely, would fragment the nerves of your coils. But just wait. Please, wait is all I ask for. I know I haven't proved to be the best person around you. I'll annoy you, test your patience, bring you to the brink of murderous behaviour, or even might shaken your trust in our bond. But listen. LISTEN. You've been there with me when I was happy. And I promised to be there in your angst. And I'll be there even if the angst is because of me. If I end up being the reason of your anguish. Please bear with me, because I don't want to be unable to be there with you. It just wasn't about the happiness deal, was it? I told you I won't let your problems remain yours.I'd be your shield for your problems hit me. Hard, in the face. Only to remind me, come what may, you're safe. There are days when we simply just look at each other, and know things are fine, with all the shutters down.

"I'll sit here by my window, look out at the night sky you must have gazed at, tonight and most of all, I'll wish I knew how you feel."

With weary eyes, incomplete sleep and a new Macbook,
see you around fellas.

The Chronicles of April Levesque...V

You can read the previous parts here. Just scroll down the page for parts I-IV. =)

"Has anyone ever told you that you have eyes too big for your face?"
"I like the way you mumble."
He gathered all of her in once, and in her haste or nervousness - definitely haste, she thought - she spilled the wine from her glass. The sore of the pink blemished her gown and his pants.

"Dois!", he exclaimed with surprise.
"I'm really sorry. I just-"
"Querida, you're all wet! I'll arrange for some clothes for you."
"Uh, No, it's okay."
His phone rang. He spoke rapidly in his language. So fast, that she couldn't make out what he was saying. Thrashing someone, that she could make out. He dropped a curse. That she made out.

"Is everything alright?", her sweet, sultry voice made him want to rush her to his room and make love to her all night.

Dios, he was surprised at such loss of his control. He'd prided on his self-control all his life, and this woman, about whom he knew as much he did about any share-holder in his company was driving him mad with it.

He pushed in some numbers on his phone, and blabbered something again in Spanish.

"There's a ball I've to attend. I need a date. I'd be obliged if you came along."

"What? A ball? I can't. I mean, I'm sorry but I've to return now."
"I saved you in the alley this evening, cara. You can at least just return the favour."
"But my dress is stained."
He smiled. Is he mad, she thought, I'm sitting in a dirty dress, and he smiles?

"I've had a dress brought in for you. It's in there. You can have the room to yourself.", his smile predatory. She felt something leaping inside her chest.

"But what if my size is incorrect?"
He chuckled. "I build hundred levels high towers, cara. I can obviously make out the size of a small woman's dress."
Small? She fumed at the fact that he just called her small.

She stormed out of the hallway, and into the room. Small. The words plummeted in her head. How the hell could he refer to her as small! I'm a spy, legalized in killing, and I'm small. She was filled with fury against him. April picked the dress and rummaged through the rest of the contents of the box. A dress like that would have costed her a fortune.

The moment Duardo heard the sound of the door click, his full attention had welded on April's transformation from wet and bedraggled to long and curvaceous, a seriously slinky siren which almost blew his edgy control to bits. She was wearing a figure-hugging strapless tube of a dress that was nothing of mind-stopping. For a few seconds, he was thrown back to the moment when he first saw her this evening.

Heat poured into his body. Desire so fierce he did not know how he kept it from showing on his face. Her hair had been slicked back and her make-up barely there except for a fresh touch of gloss to her soft full mouth. Her natural beauty just shone out of her warm, dark - exotic - exquisite. But as she came closer, he saw she looked deathly pale and he knew somehow - instinct - that she was more shaken up than she was trying to let on.

"Shall we, querida?" She merely smiled, and nodded. How could a gesture that simple want him to haul her to a corner and love her senseless?

She didn't realize when but she dozed off on their way to the ball. She was woken up by the touch of cool fingers on her face. She woke up in haste and, in impulse caught his hand in a deadly hold.

"Hey! It's just me."

She looked around her. Confused she looked at him, her look questioning. She stared hard on the name on the board in front of her.

"No! Why have you brought me here? You can't do this to me. No. No, dammit! I won't be your toy!"

He smiled, and held her angry chin up, "Yes, you will.", and he kissed her.

Startled, she woke up. The same dream. For past two years, she'd been dreaming of him, that one kiss, and his betrayal. The way he'd blackmailed her into...
She heard a thudded heavy knock on the door.
Who could it be in the middle of the night? Her mind was rummaging through all the possible prospects. She opened the door to find Duardo smiling at her. It was almost as though he was mocking her.

Two years. Two years is how long he had to wait to catch a glimpse of her again. Even in those bear pajamas, no make-up face, and a sleepy look, she was the most beautiful woman to him. Even after two years, her picture was clearly imprinted in his mind.

"Evening, cara. Aren't you going to invite me in?"
Her heart thudded in her chest, and she felt as if she'd explode, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Tch tch. That's not how you talk, cara."

"Stop calling me that. I'm not your anything!", her patience on edge, she yelled at him.
"Really? But this paper says otherwise."he projected to her his same predatory smile. One she was scared of.

"What is that?", she demanded.

"Why, it's our marriage certificate, querida."

To be continued....

See you around, fellas.

Life Is Okay!

I wake up every morning at six. Actually it's more like staying up through the night till the point when it's my real time to wake up. I'm slogging myself, and yet the work doesn't come to an end. How will it, when I have only 24 hours for 30 hours worth of work?! I drag myself past each day, in the hope that something nice'll happen. Something/one will bring a smile to me. A genuine smile. One that I've actually forgotten what feels like to be done in response.

And then I look around. And I see people. Real people, fake people, helpful people, sadu people, leechad people, kind people, happy people, whining people. I try looking within. And I find myself. Should be enough, isn't it? YOU should be enough for yourself. [Read: Satya. I love you, Tambi :*]
I bend down and shake my head, look up smiling, and get back to my work.

Life is okay!
